How do daily limits work?
Choose an app and give it its own daily minutes, then add another if you like. Home shows the time remaining; edit limits in Settings → App limits. Increasing a limit starts tomorrow. iOS reports may take time to update, so a widget reading can be an estimate.
What are extra lives?
By default you have three lives per day, each giving two extra minutes in one blocked app. Lives are shared across your apps. Settings lets you choose one, two or three lives and two, three or five minutes per life. Changing the settings does not restore lives you already used. Hard mode removes extra lives.
What happens when lives run out?
You can wait until tomorrow and keep your cat safe. Alternatively, a deliberate 22-second sacrifice hold gives up the current cat and unlocks the selected apps. Releasing the hold cancels it. Sacrifice is permanent for that cat; its saved memories remain.
When do memories arrive?
On adoption day, the first short film arrives at 6 pm, or immediately if you adopt after 6 pm. Further protected days earn their numbered story at 6 pm. Watching a story reveals its scene changes immediately; otherwise they appear the following morning. There are 28 bundled films, followed by short family notes.
Screen Time is taking a long time to load
Keep Pawse open briefly and check Screen Time permission in iPhone Settings. Pawse keeps your saved home while reconnecting and continues checking automatically. Reopen the app if iOS remains unresponsive. Don’t delete the app as a troubleshooting step: local pets and memories may be lost.
Why can Apple’s picker show an uninstalled app?
Apple’s Screen Time picker can show entries associated with your device or Apple Account even when an app is not currently installed. Pawse cannot reliably check installation status from Apple’s private app-selection tokens. An unused selection does not consume another app’s separate allowance.
How do I add a widget?
Open Settings → Home Screen widget in Pawse for the illustrated guide. You add the widget through iOS yourself; Pawse cannot place it automatically. iOS controls widget refresh timing. The widget may show an estimate until an activity checkpoint is available.
Can I move my cat to another phone?
Pawse does not currently offer account-based or live cross-device sync. Settings → Keep your memories lets you export a keepsake file. Importing a keepsake adds a read-only history; it does not replace a living cat or restore blocking rules.
How do I control notifications and analytics?
Settings → Notifications opens your iPhone notification controls. Settings → Privacy controls optional usage analytics. Neither feature is required for your selected app limits to work.
App licence
Pawse uses Apple’s standard app licence. Read our privacy policy for information about data and optional analytics.
